Richard Crook's Julian Calendar Calculator
Family historians, particularly those who transcribe parish registers, may find it useful to relate a date to a day of the week. With the aid of the calculator this can be achieved throughout the period Sunday 1 Jan 1066 to Saturday 2 Sep 1752. The intervening eleven days prior the introduction of the Gregorian Calendar on Thursday 14 Sep 1752 were completely omitted and the old fiscal year that had ended on the 24 March would now close on the 5 April, as it does today. Many people at the time were demanding the reinstatement of the missing days! It is also possible to establish, for example, that the Battle of Hastings took place on a Saturday.
